One between Luka Modric, Cristiano Ronaldo and Mohamed Salah will be named UEFA Men's Player of the Year on the 30th of August 2018.

Luka Modric, Cristiano Ronaldo and Mohamed Salah have been nominated for the 2017/18 season UEFA Men's Player of the Year award.

The winner will be named same day with the UEFA Women's Player f the Year and UEFA Champions League positional award winners while the group stage draw will be on in Monaco on Thursday the 30th August.
And also the UEFA Europa League Player of the 2017/18 season will be announced the next day.

Luka Modric (Real Madrid and Croatia)

What is UEFA Men's Player of the Year award?
The award recognises the best players, irrespective of nationality, playing for a club within the territory of a UEFA member association during the past season. Players are decided on their performance in all competitions be it domestic, continental and international.

How were the players shortlisted?

The shortlisted players was selected by a jury comprising of 80 coaches from the clubs that participated in the group stages of the 2017/18 UEFA Champions League (32) and the 48 UEFA Europa League teams, along side 55 journalists selected by the European Sports Media (ESM) group, representing each of UEFA's member associations.

Jury members chose their respective top three players, with the first receiving five points, the second three and the third with one point. Coaches were to choose but not allowed to vote for players from their own team.
